What is DuPont Vespel CR6100 ?
Material Properties of CR-6100 for Wear Parts in Centrifugal Pumps
Vespel® CR-6100 has a combination of properties that allow it to be used as a standard material in a wide range of process fluids. Compared to wear parts made of metals and other composite materials, Vespel® CR-6100 can be used as a standard material for a wide range of process fluids.
Vespel® CR-6100 has the following advantages:
- Low coefficient of thermal expansion
- High temperature resistance
- Wide range of chemical resistance
- Easy to machine
- High impact strength
- Low coefficient of friction
- High PV (P pressure - V rate) Low coefficient of thermal expansion, low coefficient of friction, low wear rate, combined with a high PV, Vespel® CR-6100 has excellent performance in empty running conditions. Vespel® CR-6100 has excellent performance in air operation. Vespel® CR-6100, because of its high impact strength and easy machinability, performs very well under the operating conditions of installation or pumps with cavitation, bearing failure, or severe vibration. Vespel® CR-6100 parts reduce the risk of damage in installations or operating conditions with pump cavitation, bearing failure or severe vibration.
The Vespel® CR-6100 is ideal for centrifugal pumps handling fluids because of the following advantages.
- Reduced vibration
- Increased mechanical seal life and MTBR (Mean Time Between Repairs).
- Reduces the risk of seizing during pump operation.
- Increased pump efficiency
- Reduced maintenance costs
Advantages of Gap Reduction
Vespel® CR-6100 is effective in minimizing the risk of seizing during pump operation. Therefore, the wear ring clearance can be appropriately reduced, which can improve the reliability and operating efficiency of the pump.
Wear rings act as hydraulic bearings in the pump, and reducing wear ring clearance can significantly improve pump reliability - a phenomenon known as the Lomakin effect. Radial forces in wear rings
The radial force of a wear ring is a function of differential pressure, flow velocity, fluid properties, etc., and is inversely proportional to the size of its gap. Therefore, reducing the wear ring gap increases the hydraulic radial force on the rotor.
For a wide range of pumps, this increased radial force helps to reduce overall pump vibration, minimize bending of the spindle, and extend the life of the pump.
The reduced clearance also helps to minimize backflow in the pump, which requires less energy for the same output volume, saving energy and increasing the efficiency of the pump output. If used in large pumps, or in many pumps at the same time
If used in large pumps, or in many pumps at the same time, power consumption can be drastically reduced, helping you save a lot of money every year. In addition, the reduced wear ring gap can reduce the NPSHr (Net Positive Suction Head Required by the pump).
(Net Positive Suction Head Required by the Pump) by 0.6m to 0.9m, which provides design margins for demanding operating conditions.
